The rural landscape surrounding Bressanvido’s residential area is crossed by a dense pattern of small water streams produced by resurgence springs: here fresh and pure water travels the countryside, dances and gurgles in the springs, flows rapidly in the waterways before flowing into downstream large rivers.

Roggia Tergola (“Tergola irrigation canal”) twists and turns through the Bressanvido countryside collecting water from many resurgences. Here the vegetation covers 90% of the stream bedThe physical confine of a stream or river. with twelve different species, among which the most widespread are the cutleaf water parsnip, the water-starwort, the floating pondweed and the sago pondweed.
The aquatic fauna in this area is particularly significant in terms of population and number of species, mainly represented by the three-spined stickleback, the southern pike, the padanian goby and the brown trout.
The common moorhen and the mallard are often found by the aquatic vegetation along rivers; the kingfisher can be also observed darting on the water surface or sitting on the branch of a riparian tree.

Roggia Lirosa (“Lirosa irrigation canal”) originates downstream of a five-resurgence system, within a rural landscape on the east-side of Bressanvido residential area.
The whole irrigation canal was once property of the benedictines, having its spring wellA spring well ("fontanile") is the result of the human intervention on resurgences, transformed into spring wells by the enlargement of the natural valleys in the land. More located by the monastery of S.S. Felice and Fortunato, as indicated by a document from April 30, 1640.
Here the vegetation covers 80% of the stream bed with thirteen species, among which the most widespread are the cutleaf water parsnip and the water-starwort.
Underwater habitats are populated by the European bullhead, the three-spined stickleback, the southern pike, the brown trout and the Lombardy lamprey.

“Castellaro spring well”
Roggia Castellaro (“Castellaro irrigation canal”) flows near the residential area of Bressanvido, further down the main resurgences, in a mainly rural context that still maintains a connection with the residential zone. This area was once the city center and in the Middle Ages a castle was located down the modern S.Rocco street.
The river banks are semi-natural and almost completely shaded by the hygrophilousPlant that lives and develops along waterways and lakes. shrubs that characterize this habitat: London planes, a few specimens of white willow, black poplars and black alders.
The aquatic vegetation covers about 60% of the stream bed in spring and about 75% in summer, while the spring well is populated by many riparian herbaceous species: the predominant cutleaf water parsnip, the yellow iris and the marsh-marigold.
The most widespread aquatic species are the European bullhead, the three-spined stickleback and the Padanian goby.
Arboreto didattico
“Didactic arboretum”
Arboreto didattico is a thicket of trees and shrubs located by the Elementary School in Poianella, hamlet of Bressanvido, next to the bridge over Rio Tergola.
Created in 2009, the arboretum includes the most common species found along countryside waterways of the resurgence belt: the field maple, the black alder, the common dogwood, the hazel, the common hawthorn, the alder buckthorn, the common oak, the false acacia, the dog rose, the white willow, the gray willow, the black elder, the wayfarer and the guelder rose.
Risorgiva didattica
“Didactic resurgence”
Risorgiva didattica is an artificial resurgence spring facing Bressanvido city hall: created for instructional purposes, this site is also accessible for wheelchair users.
In the area is also located the interactive kiosk dedicated to the exploration of resurgences, which provides information about the local flora and fauna, history, walking trails and a kids section with interactive activities and an illustrated story.
